Digital travel platform Agoda has identified a
selection of Asian cities where spring flower blooms shape urban life and
travel experiences from March through May. Across the region, the season brings
distinct floral moments that influence local festivals, outdoor spaces and the
rhythm of city exploration—appealing to travellers planning trips around nature
and slower-paced discovery.
Spring travel often centres on park visits,
neighbourhood walks and time outdoors. During early and mid-spring, many Asian
cities reach peak bloom, drawing residents and visitors alike into public
gardens, riverside paths and hillside parks. Agoda notes that these seasonal
windows provide a timely reason to explore familiar cities through a different,
nature-led lens.
Cities where spring defines the experience
In Tokyo, cherry blossoms typically bloom from late
March into early April, transforming areas such as Ueno Park, the Meguro River
and Shinjuku Gyoen. The season coincides with the city’s Hanami traditions, as
people gather beneath flowering trees. Seasonal food offerings and riverside
strolls allow visitors to experience spring without leaving the city centre.
Shillong welcomes spring with jacaranda and
rhododendron blooms that add shades of purple and pink across its hills and
gardens. Areas such as Police Bazaar and Lady Hydari Park take on a distinctly
seasonal atmosphere, while nearby viewpoints around Ward’s Lake and Shillong
Peak offer relaxed walking routes paired with café culture and short nature
excursions.
In Seoul, cherry blossoms usually appear in early
April. Locations including Yeouido Hangang Park and Seokchon Lake frame the
blooms against modern skylines and waterfront views. The compact layout allows
travellers to combine flower viewing with café stops and neighbourhood
exploration, making the city well suited to short spring itineraries.
Taipei offers an earlier bloom window, with cherry
blossoms emerging from late February into March, particularly in Yangmingshan.
Walking trails and thermal valleys provide varied scenery within easy reach of
the city, balancing outdoor experiences with urban comfort during the spring
months.
Spring arrives slightly later in Srinagar, where
tulips bloom in April at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden. Set against
mountain backdrops, the gardens form part of a broader seasonal mood,
complemented by houseboat stays and lakeside walks.
Spring travel shaped by seasonal moments
Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President, Supply at Agoda,
explains the appeal: “Spring travel is about slowing down and seeing cities
through a seasonal lens, and flower blooms are a powerful draw for that
experience. At Agoda, we're seeing how these moments influence travel
decisions, and with millions of stays, flights and activities available in one
place, we make it easy for travellers to plan and book their perfect spring
getaway around nature-filled experiences.”
For travellers planning spring trips around seasonal
scenery, Agoda provides access to more than six million holiday properties,
over 130,000 flight routes and around 300,000 activities worldwide.
Accommodation options near parks, gardens and city centres can be combined with
flights and experiences in a single booking, with mobile app offers supporting
flexible, nature-focused travel planning.
