This
project marks a significant return to the heart of Bangkok for the Six Senses
brand, which has its roots in Thailand.
The
original Narai Hotel, opened in 1968, played a pivotal role in shaping
Bangkok’s hospitality industry. For more than five decades, it stood as a
beacon for travelers, celebrities, and royalty alike. Now, this iconic address
is being reimagined through a bold new partnership between Six Senses and Narai
Hospitality Group.
A
Vision of Light and Renewal in Bangkok’s “Lantern Quarter”
The
Hatai development is set to transform Silom into Bangkok’s new “lantern
quarter,” with designs by the award-winning Heatherwick Studio inspired by
traditional Thai lantern craftsmanship. Hatai will blend cultural heritage with
contemporary design to revitalize the surrounding area and create a vibrant new
district.
Six
Senses Bangkok will feature approximately 100 spacious rooms and suites
designed to offer a tranquil escape in the heart of the city. The property will
be centered around wellness, sustainability, and heartfelt service—hallmarks of
the Six Senses brand.
In
line with the group’s commitment to sustainability, the hotel targets LEED Gold
and WELL Gold certifications. Materials from the original Narai Hotel,
including its wooden foundation, will be repurposed into the interior
design—honoring the past while creating a vision for the future.
Design
Excellence and Elevated Experiences
A
700-square-meter signature suite and rooftop restaurant, designed by renowned
creative Joyce Wang, will crown the hotel. BAR Studio will lead the interior
design across the rest of the property, including the main restaurant, which
will connect to a sky lobby via a biophilic sky garden.
The
rooftop pool will offer an inviting transition from indoors to outdoors, while
the Six Senses Spa Bangkok will provide high-tech, high-touch wellness
experiences. Guests can look forward to the brand’s signature offerings such as
integrated wellness programs, mindful sleep support, nourishing cuisine, and
meaningful engagement with the local community.
A
Homecoming for Six Senses in Thailand
Six
Senses Bangkok joins Six Senses Samui and Six Senses Yao Noi as the brand’s
third property in Thailand. It represents the brand’s continuing evolution into
iconic urban destinations, following recent openings in Rome and Kyoto, and
upcoming locations in London, Milan, Lisbon, Dubai, and Tel Aviv.

Gateway to Bangkok’s Heritage and Contemporary Life
Located
on Silom Road, Six Senses Bangkok will be one of two hotels within the Hatai
development, which will also feature nearly 6,000 square meters of high-end
retail, dining, and communal space. With direct access to BTS and MRT stations,
the hotel is ideally situated for both leisure and business travelers. Nearby
landmarks include the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple and King Power Mahanakhon with
its popular SkyWalk. Guests can also enjoy the riverside charm of the Chao
Phraya and Bangkok’s renowned culinary scene, from gourmet restaurants to vibrant
street food.
As
part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ expanding luxury and lifestyle portfolio, Six
Senses Bangkok continues the group’s strong momentum in Thailand, where IHG
currently operates 40 hotels and has 38 more in development across 11
destinations.
Six
Senses Bangkok is set to open in 2028, shortly after the 60th anniversary of
the original Narai Hotel—carrying forward a legacy of hospitality into a bold
new era for Bangkok.
