Holland America expands Europe programme for 2028

Holland America Line has opened bookings for its 2028 Europe season, with departures scheduled from January to early December. The programme covers Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and transatlantic routes, with itineraries ranging from seven to 48 days.

Five ships will operate in the region: Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Volendam and Zuiderdam. Nieuw Amsterdam will return to Europe for the first time in more than a decade.

More calls in key European markets

The 2028 season will feature Holland America Line’s highest number of European port calls in nearly ten years. The programme includes record numbers of visits to Ireland and the Netherlands, the most calls in Norway since 2014 and the highest number of Spanish port visits since 2017.

Guests will be able to explore more than 200 UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Norway’s listed fjords, as well as major cities and smaller coastal destinations.

“Europe is a destination that changes with every season, and each one offers guests a completely different way to experience it,” said Paul Grigsby, Vice President of Deployment and Revenue Planning at Holland America Line.

Mediterranean and Northern Europe in focus

Mediterranean cruises will last between seven and 11 days and visit destinations in Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia and Turkey. The programme also includes six calls at Portofino and a 48-day Legendary Mediterranean Voyage sailing roundtrip from North America.

Northern Europe itineraries will range from seven to 28 days and cover Norway, Iceland, Greenland, the British Isles and the Baltic. Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam and Zuiderdam will operate many of these routes.

Europe throughout the year

Winter sailings will focus on the Canary Islands, Spain, Portugal and Morocco, while spring departures will include the Netherlands during tulip season. During summer, all five ships will operate across Europe, including Norway, Iceland, Greece, Croatia and Turkey.

Autumn cruises will continue through the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, while selected departures in November and early December will extend the season with further Canary Islands, Mediterranean and transatlantic voyages.

Overnight stays, late departures and extended port calls will give guests more time in selected destinations.

Early booking benefits

Guests booking selected 2028 Europe cruises with the Have It All package receive shore excursions, specialty dining, a beverage package and Wi-Fi. Early bookings also include prepaid crew appreciation and upgrades to the Elite Beverage Package and Premium Wi-Fi.
