Spain welcomed 10.3 million international air
passengers in October 2025, marking a 5.6% increase compared with the same
month in 2024, according to figures released today by Turespaña. Between
January and October, the total number of international passengers reached 96.7
million, also 5.6% more than in the same period last year.
Broad growth across key source markets
All major source markets registered year-on-year
increases in October. Ireland (+14.6%) and Poland (+12.5%) recorded
particularly strong gains.
Market diversification continued to deepen, with
notable growth from Latin American countries – especially Colombia, Mexico,
Brazil and Argentina – as well as from China and Japan in Asia, and the UAE and
Qatar in the Gulf region.
Main source markets: UK, Germany and Italy
The United Kingdom remained Spain’s leading source
market with around 2.2 million passengers in October, representing 21.7% of all
international arrivals (+4.4% year-on-year). The Canary Islands received 26.2%
of these arrivals, posting a moderate increase of 2.9%. Andalusia and the
Valencia region also stood out with more than 20,000 additional UK passengers.
From Germany, 1.5 million travellers flew to Spain,
accounting for 14.4% of the total – a slight year-on-year rise of 0.2%. The
Balearic Islands remained the main destination but saw a decline of 24,000
passengers, while the Valencia region and Catalonia received more than 10,000
additional passengers each.
Arrivals from Italy reached 985,632 passengers, or 9.6%
of the total, an increase of 6.5%. Catalonia and the Madrid region together
absorbed 58.7% of this flow, with respective rises of 8.2% and 6.7%. All other
regions benefited from Italian arrivals except the Balearic Islands, Cantabria
and Galicia.
France accounted for 7.4% of arrivals (+1.8%).
Catalonia and Madrid captured 49% of French visitors, with Catalonia seeing a
strong 12.4% rise. Asturias and the Basque Country also posted increases of
more than 5%.
Passengers from the Netherlands represented 4.9% of
the total (+3.9%). Most travelled to Catalonia, the Valencia region and
Andalusia. All major regions except the Balearic Islands recorded positive
growth, with Madrid showing an 11.6% increase.
Destination regions: strong gains in Madrid and
Valencia
In October, the six leading destination regions
accounted for 97.1% of all international arrivals. All registered increases
except the Balearic Islands. The Madrid region (+8.7%) and the Valencia region
(+8.6%) posted the strongest growth.
Airports: Madrid and Barcelona lead, Valencia and
Seville grow fastest
Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport received the
highest number of international arrivals in October, with 2.2 million
passengers (+8.7%). It was followed by Barcelona–El Prat with 1.9 million
(+6.9%) and Palma de Mallorca with 1.2 million arrivals.
The fastest year-on-year growth was recorded at the
airports of Valencia and Seville, each posting an 11.2% increase.
Spain’s October passenger figures reflect both robust
demand from traditional European markets and growing dynamism from long-haul
destinations, consolidating the country’s position as one of the world’s most
resilient and diversified tourism hubs.
