easyJet is getting jet-set for its busiest-ever May half-term, with thousands of holidaymakers set to take off on 16,400 flights across Europe and North Africa during the week-long school break. In the UK alone, easyJet is set to operate more than 9,400 flights during the school holiday period.
Over the first half-term weekend, more than half a million holidaymakers are expected to take to the skies on over 3,100 easyJet flights, as families and travellers make the most of the break to enjoy sunshine getaways and spring city escapes.
easyJet flights to Greece, Slovenia, Malta, and Tunisia have seen an increase in popularity this year, with Brits jetting off this May half-term, including on new routes from the UK this summer to Malta from Newcastle and Ljubljana from Manchester.
Palma, Alicante and Malaga are among the top beach destinations across easyJet’s network, while Seville is also proving especially popular this year, up 25% compared to May half-term last year.
Meanwhile, Rhodes tops the list of preferred Greek islands for Brits this half-term. The airline is offering even more choice to Greece this summer with 61 routes to 24 destinations.
North African gems including Enfidha in Tunisia, and Marrakech in Morocco with their guaranteed sunshine are proving more popular, with bookings up by as much as 15% compared to last year.
Brits are also increasingly looking beyond traditional European city breaks in search of new and lesser-explored destinations. Tbilisi in Georgia and Ljubljana in Slovenia are also proving especially popular following the launch of easyJet flights, as travellers seek unique cultural experiences, scenic architecture and great value short-haul escapes.
Milan, Nice, Barcelona, Paris and Amsterdam top the list of the most popular city-break destinations for the May half-term, with customers flocking for their warm spring weather, vibrant culture, outdoor dining and a packed calendar of seasonal events and attractions without the peak summer crowds.
For easyJet holidays, beach breaks are proving the most popular this May half term, with Majorca the most booked destination followed by Alicante and Tenerife. Holidays to Rhodes are also growing in popularity, with bookings up by 19% vs May half term last year.
All easyJet holidays packages come with flights and hotel, plus 23kg luggage and airport transfers on beach holidays.
easyJet and easyJet Holidays have recently introduced their Book with Confidence Promise to reassure customers on their travel plans. The pledge guarantees that flight and package prices will not increase in price once booked and confirms that easyJet intends to operate a full schedule across its network, despite competitors cutting routes, as easyJet prepares to fly over 50 million passengers this summer.
easyJet's average May flight prices remain highly competitive, with flights to destinations like the sun-drenched beaches of Palma from £25.99, for those looking for last-minute May Half-Term getaways.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet's UK Country Manager, said:
“We’re looking forward to taking millions of customers away this half-term for a well-deserved break and the chance to enjoy quality time together. Whether it’s to one of Europe’s best beaches, a cultural city break or chasing the sun further afield, we still have fantastic great-value flights and package holidays available to book.
“And holidaymakers can also book with confidence this summer as we are operating as normal, not making cancellations and our Booking with Confidence Promise guarantees that the cost of flights and package holidays will stay fixed after booking and we will not add fuel surcharges, protecting customers from increased fuel cost.”
