Agoda Highlights Four Must-Visit Festival Destinations for K-Culture Enthusiasts - Get updated on what's happening in tourism!

According to Agoda's 2025 Travel Trends Survey, 34% of South Korean travelers are motivated by cultural exploration. Additionally, a survey by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism indicates that both local and international visitors prioritize meaningful local experiences and traditional Korean culture.

Must-Visit Festival Destinations:

May: Gangneung Danoje Festival

Held from May 27 to June 3, this UNESCO-recognized festival features the Gwanno Mask Play, herbal Changpomul hair rinsing, and surichwi rice cakes. Gangneung, with a 9% increase in summer interest on Agoda, ranks as the seventh most-searched South Korean destination.

June: Muju Cultural Heritage Night Festival

Taking place from June 13 to 14, this festival highlights heritage sites, traditional cuisine, and artworks by Joseon calligrapher Han Seok-bong. Visitors can also explore the Bandi Imagination Forest. Interest in Muju has surged by 39% on Agoda.

July: Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival

Scheduled from July 4 to 6, this event showcases pink and white lotus blossoms, music performances, and drone shows, creating a romantic ambiance. Buyeo has seen a remarkable 57% rise in summer searches on Agoda.

August: Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival

Running from August 9 to 14, this seaside festival commemorates Admiral Yi Sun-shin with naval reenactments, Turtle Ship Rowing Competitions, and fireworks. Tongyeong's coastal charm has led to a 46% rise in travel interest on Agoda.

Joonwhan Lee, Country Director of Agoda Korea, stated: "These provincial destinations are attracting both domestic and international travelers eager to immerse themselves in K-Culture through vibrant summer festivals."
