As Lufthansa approaches its 100th anniversary in 2026,
the airline is using the milestone to fundamentally reimagine its long-haul
product. The initiative, called FOX (Future Onboard Experience), will enhance
service across all cabins – from Economy to First Class – combining
individuality, comfort and Lufthansa Signature Moments.
A €70 million investment in the future
“We are investing over 70 million euros in our new
Future Onboard Experience in the next twelve months alone,” said Jens Ritter,
CEO of Lufthansa Airlines. “With more individuality, greater comfort and
extraordinary Lufthansa Signature Moments, we are building on what has always
defined us over the past 100 years: being an attentive and unique host above
the clouds.”
Individuality: shaping your own journey
Passengers will have more flexibility to personalize
their experience. In Business Class, guests will be able to choose the timing
of their second meal, selecting from a wide range of sweet and savory options,
snacks and hot dishes. In Economy and Premium Economy, three menu choices will
replace the current two, offering greater variety and control.
Comfort: premium in every detail
FOX will emphasize comfort and quality throughout the
cabins. High-end amenities, upgraded textiles and completely new tableware will
be introduced in all four classes. Designed to be both modern and timeless, the
new elements will go beyond functionality, creating a tactile sense of value
and refinement.
Lufthansa Signature Moments
The initiative will also highlight iconic touches that
are unique to Lufthansa. The rose and caviar service in First Class or the
“Avionic” signature cocktail will be joined by new culinary concepts. A triad
of home, variety and Lufthansa signature dishes will feature menus curated by
top chefs – sometimes themed around the destination, sometimes inspired by the
place of departure, but always carrying a sense of anticipation.
Building on Allegris and fleet modernization
FOX complements other steps in Lufthansa’s premium
transformation, including the introduction of the Boeing 787-9 and Airbus
A350-900 and the rollout of the Allegris in-flight product. By redesigning
service and processes across all long-haul aircraft, Lufthansa aims to elevate
the travel experience for all passengers, regardless of cabin class.
Launch in spring 2026
The new Future Onboard Experience will officially
launch in spring 2026, ushering in a new chapter of individuality, comfort and
premium hospitality at Lufthansa’s centenary.
