The Tourism Authority of Thailand has signed five
strategic cooperation agreements in China aimed at attracting higher-value
visitors, improving travel services and strengthening confidence in Thailand as
a destination. The Letters of Intent were concluded with China Tourism Group,
Utour Group, China Comfort Travel Group, Amap and TCP Group during an official
Thai government visit to China.
The partnerships cover tour operations, digital
promotion, smart travel services, destination marketing and experiences in
Thailand. Together, they are intended to create a more connected tourism
ecosystem extending from initial travel inspiration and booking to local
transport and activities at the destination.
China remains a key tourism market
The agreements build on the visa-free travel
arrangements between Thailand and China and form part of the broader strategic
cooperation between the two countries. Tourism is expected to support economic
activity, cultural exchange and closer ties between the Thai and Chinese
populations.
“By connecting travel businesses, digital platforms
and consumer brands, TAT is carrying forward the government’s direction to
strengthen confidence, improve the visitor journey and generate sustainable
value for Thailand’s tourism industry,” said TAT Governor Thapanee
Kiatphaibool.
The agreements were signed on behalf of TAT by
Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia
and South Pacific.
Partnerships cover different stages of the journey
According to Pattaraanong, the cooperation frameworks
connect important stages of the Chinese visitor journey, from inspiration and
travel planning to mobility and experiences in Thailand.
“These partnerships connect key stages of the Chinese
visitor journey, from inspiration and booking to mobility and experiences in
Thailand. They provide practical channels to develop relevant products, reach
group and independent travellers, raise service standards and translate strong
people-to-people ties into measurable tourism outcomes,” she said.
Tour operators expand product development
Under the agreement with China Tourism Group, TAT will
use the company’s integrated distribution network to promote high-quality Thai
tourism products and attract additional visitor segments from China.
The cooperation with Utour Group includes digital
promotion of the Amazing Thailand brand and the development of specialised
products in areas such as leisure travel, wellness, honeymoons, weddings,
educational visits and cultural festivals. Distribution will take place through
travel agencies, retail outlets, online travel platforms and social media.
China Comfort Travel Group will work with TAT on
destination promotion, new tourism products, group travel, business events and
special-interest segments. The partnership also covers safety and service
standards, tourism data, professional training and access to the company’s
nationwide sales network in China.
Amap supports smart tourism services
The partnership with Chinese navigation and digital
services provider Amap will focus on smart tourism. Planned initiatives include
destination promotion, Thai-Chinese travel information and the Street Discovery
Ranking.
The services are intended to make travel in Thailand
easier for independent Chinese visitors while improving TAT’s ability to reach
higher-value market segments through digital channels.
Sport, music and lifestyle experiences
Under the Energetic Thailand concept, TAT and TCP
Group will jointly develop tourism experiences linked to sport, music, health
and lifestyle. TCP Group, the Thai company behind the Red Bull brand, will use
its marketing and communications network to strengthen destination awareness
and support business events, workforce development and wider economic activity.
TAT plans to continue working with partners from
different industries on joint marketing campaigns, product development, travel
facilitation and service improvements. The aim is to provide Chinese visitors
with safe, convenient and high-quality travel experiences while creating new
opportunities for tourism businesses and destinations across Thailand.
