The Tourism Authority of Thailand has signed separate
strategic agreements with TransNusa Airlines and Traveloka to strengthen
tourism cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia. The partnerships are
designed to improve air connectivity, expand Thailand’s digital reach and
encourage more Indonesian travellers to visit destinations across the country.
The memorandums of understanding were signed in
Jakarta by TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TransNusa Airlines Aviation
Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Bernard Francis and Traveloka co-founder
Albert. The ceremony was witnessed by Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul
and Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Indonesia’s Special Presidential Envoy for Climate
and Energy and Chairman of the Advisory Board at KADIN Indonesia.
Air links to Bangkok and Phuket in focus
Under the agreement with TransNusa Airlines, the
partners will work together on destination promotion, tourism product
development and stronger flight connections between Indonesia and Thailand.
Planned activities include participation in tourism
fairs, joint promotional campaigns, digital content, workshops and
familiarisation trips. Particular attention will be given to supporting the
Jakarta–Bangkok and Bali–Phuket routes.
The cooperation will also contribute to TAT’s “Feel
All the Feelings – Visit Thailand, Feel Every Emotion” campaign, which aims to
present Thailand through a broad range of cultural, culinary, wellness and
leisure experiences.
Traveloka brings digital reach and market insight
The partnership with Traveloka will use the platform’s
distribution network, digital marketing capabilities and consumer data to
promote destinations and tourism products across Thailand.
The agreement also includes cooperation on responsible
travel, campaign planning and the communication of tourism policies, entry
requirements and safety information. Any exchange of market data will be
subject to applicable privacy and security safeguards.
Partnerships support sustainable tourism growth
“Indonesia is an important ASEAN market for Thailand,
supported by close cultural ties, convenient travel and growing demand for
diverse tourism experiences,” said Thapanee Kiatphaibool.
“These partnerships advance TAT’s Partnership 360
strategy by combining air access, digital reach and market insight to grow
Indonesian travel to Thailand. They also support the global ‘Healing is the New
Luxury’ campaign by connecting travellers with meaningful experiences across
established and emerging destinations, while extending tourism benefits to
communities and the wider economy.”
Thailand targets 890,000 Indonesian visitors
Thailand welcomed 376,337 visitors from Indonesia
between 1 January and 31 July 2026. They stayed for an average of six nights,
with Thai cuisine, historical attractions, community-based tourism, wellness
experiences and beaches among their main interests.
TAT is targeting 890,000 Indonesian arrivals for the
full year. The new agreements are expected to support that goal by combining
improved access with more targeted marketing and a stronger understanding of
Indonesian traveller preferences.
