TAT launches Amazing MuayThai Festival 2026 in Hua Hin

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will stage the Amazing MuayThai Festival 2026 from 4 to 7 February at Rajabhakti Park in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan. The festival is designed to strengthen Thailand’s profile in sports tourism by presenting Muay Thai as both a national martial art and a living cultural heritage, while marking National Muay Thai Day with large-scale ceremonies and performances.

Muay Thai as cultural heritage and tourism driver

Held under the concept “Ultimate Muay Thai Experience”, the festival pays tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, in recognition of her contributions to Thai society. At the same time, it highlights Muay Thai as a defining element of Thailand’s cultural identity and a distinctive attraction for international visitors. The event is delivered by Tourism Authority of Thailand in cooperation with Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, the Royal Thai Army, the Sports Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of Culture, the Public Relations Department, Chom Bueng Rajabhat University, the World Boxing Council Muay Thai, and a wide range of public and private partners.

Commitment to authentic experiences

Mr. Nat Kruthasoot, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business at TAT, underlined the strategic intent behind the festival:

“Amazing MuayThai Festival 2026 reflects Thailand’s commitment to safeguarding and presenting Muay Thai as a living cultural heritage with international appeal. The festival invites visitors from around the world to experience Muay Thai in its authentic setting, connecting physical training with tradition, ceremony, and community, while supporting sports tourism development and local economies.”

Four days of sport, ritual, and participation

Running daily from 16.00 to 22.00, the festival offers a comprehensive programme combining sport, culture, and hands-on engagement. Throughout the four days, visitors can attend professional Muay Thai demonstrations, exhibitions explaining ceremonial traditions and fighter rankings, and training sessions rooted in the four classical styles of Muay Thai Boran. These include Muay Chaiya from the South, Muay Korat from the Northeast, Muay Tha Sao from the North, and Muay Lop Buri from the Central region, presented at the Ancient Muay Thai Camp between 16.00 and 19.00.

Stage programmes begin shortly after 16.00 and feature self-defence demonstrations, traditional Thai folk games linked to boxing culture, such as Muay Tap Chak and Muay Thale, as well as cultural and contemporary performances during the early evening.

National Muay Thai Day as the festival highlight

The central highlight takes place on 6 February, officially recognised as National Muay Thai Day. The date commemorates King Sanphet VIII, widely known as the Tiger King (Phra Chao Suea), who is revered as the Father of Muay Thai. The main ceremonial programme runs from 17.30 to 20.00 and includes rituals honouring seven former Thai monarchs and Phra Chao Suea, royal tribute offerings, a Brahman blessing ceremony, and the Wai Kru ritual led by master Muay Thai teachers. The evening concludes with a large-scale cultural performance in four acts, involving more than 1,500 performers and enhanced by coordinated light, sound, and fireworks.

Cultural immersion beyond the ring

In addition to the core programme, the festival features a wide range of interactive cultural activities. Visitors can try traditional strength-testing practices such as banana tree kicking and lime punching, and observe demonstrations of Thai craftsmanship associated with Muay Thai culture, including sacred tattooing and yantra inscription. The event also includes skill-based interactive games, retail areas offering Muay Thai equipment and training courses, local food and signature products from Prachuap Khiri Khan, live music performances from 20.00, and nightly mini-concerts by well-known artists from 21.00.

Thailand’s strong foundation for Muay Thai tourism

Thailand currently hosts more than 5,000 Muay Thai camps and gyms nationwide, underlining its capacity to welcome international practitioners. This is supported by initiatives such as the Non-Immigrant ED Muay Thai visa, which allows foreign visitors to stay in Thailand for up to 90 days for training at certified camps, with the option to extend their stay to one year.

Expected impact

TAT expects the Amazing MuayThai Festival 2026 to attract around 18,000 visitors and generate an estimated economic value of approximately 214 million baht. Beyond the immediate impact, the event is intended to stimulate travel among Muay Thai enthusiasts and culturally motivated visitors, reinforcing Thailand’s position as the world’s leading destination for Muay Thai learning and authentic engagement.
