Star Princess delivered to Princess Cruises at Fincantieri shipyard

The second Sphere-Class newbuild will debut in the Mediterranean before heading to the Caribbean and Alaska

Princess Cruises officially took delivery of Star Princess today at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The ceremony marked the completion of construction and the formal transfer of the vessel to the cruise line. Attendees included Princess Cruises President Gus Antorcha, Captain Gennaro Arma, Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero, and local officials.

“Today is a proud moment for Princess as we welcome the new Star Princess to our incredible fleet,” said Gus Antorcha. “This remarkable vessel is a testament to the innovation and craftsmanship of our long-standing partners at Fincantieri.”

Ship highlights

At 177,800 tons with capacity for 4,300 guests, Star Princess is the 17th ship in the fleet and sister to Sun Princess. Features include:

· The Sanctuary Collection: an adults-only retreat with exclusive dining and pool deck.

· The Dome: a glass-enclosed relaxation and entertainment venue.

· The Arena: Princess’ most technologically advanced theater.

· The Piazza: a dramatic, curved atrium with floor-to-ceiling sea views.

· Spellbound by Magic Castle™: a speakeasy-style entertainment concept.

The ship offers more than 1,500 balcony staterooms and 30 dining and bar venues, supported by 1,600 crew.

Itinerary launch

Star Princess departs the shipyard for Barcelona to begin her maiden voyage on October 4, 2025, an 11-day Western Mediterranean sailing. She will then reposition to Fort Lauderdale for a Caribbean season starting November 7, before transiting the Panama Canal to Alaska for her inaugural summer season.
