Delta
Air Lines has launched a new chapter in transatlantic travel with the
introduction of a daily nonstop service between New York-JFK and Catania,
Sicily. Commencing on May 21, 2025, this new route marks Delta’s first-ever
flight to Sicily and the only direct air link between Catania and the United
States.
Located
on Sicily’s eastern coast, beneath the shadow of Mount Etna, Catania is a
gateway to some of Italy’s most treasured landscapes and cultural landmarks.
From the ancient Greek theatre in Taormina to the historic heart of Siracusa
and the baroque beauty of Noto, the region offers an unparalleled Mediterranean
experience.
“Catania
becomes the fifth Italian city served by Delta from the U.S., joining Rome,
Milan, Venice, and Naples,” said Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President
for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. “Sicily holds deep cultural and
personal connections for many Italian Americans, and this new route supports
both tourism and economic growth for the region.”
The
new service also enhances connectivity through Delta’s JFK hub, enabling
seamless onward travel to cities across North America including Los Angeles,
Miami, and Chicago.
Delta
will operate the route with a 216-seat Boeing 767-300 featuring Delta One,
Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Main Cabin experiences. As part of a
new collaboration with Italian fashion house Missoni, Delta One passengers will
enjoy enhanced amenities including bespoke bedding, a refreshed amenity kit,
lie-flat seats, a chef-curated four-course meal, and Taittinger Champagne.
All
passengers will have access to curated meal options, Delta Studio’s 1,000+
hours of entertainment, and free high-speed Wi-Fi provided by T-Mobile on all
transatlantic flights. Delta One customers departing from JFK can also access
the new Delta One Lounge – a premium space blending New York sophistication
with Missoni design.
This
summer, Delta will operate up to 110 weekly flights between Italy and the U.S.,
a 15% increase from the previous year. With the addition of Catania, Delta
cements its role as the leading U.S. airline in the Italian market.
Whether
visiting family, exploring new horizons, or returning to cherished roots,
Delta’s new Catania service offers an unforgettable entry point to Sicily’s
charm. Tickets are available now at delta.com.
