InterContinental Grand Ankara has officially opened
its doors following the extensive transformation of one of the Turkish
capital’s most recognisable hospitality landmarks. The opening marks the
arrival of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in Ankara and strengthens IHG
Hotels & Resorts’ luxury presence in Türkiye.
Originally opened as The Grand Ankara Hotel in 1966,
the property has been reimagined as a contemporary luxury destination that
combines international hospitality standards with local culture and heritage.
The hotel joins InterContinental’s global portfolio of more than 240 properties
across nearly 70 countries.
Prime location in the heart of the capital
Situated directly opposite the Turkish Grand National
Assembly, InterContinental Grand Ankara occupies a prominent position within
the city’s diplomatic, business and social district. Major attractions,
including Anıtkabir and Ankara Castle, are within easy reach, while Esenboğa
Airport can be reached in around 40 minutes.
The hotel features 342 guestrooms and suites designed
to meet the needs of modern travellers who increasingly combine business,
leisure and cultural exploration. Contemporary interiors are complemented by
subtle local influences, creating an atmosphere focused on comfort, balance and
wellbeing.
“For me, luxury is not just a physical product; it is
an experience that understands the needs of the guest even before they are
expressed, creates distinction through details, and builds a strong
connection,” said Ufuk Demir, General Manager of InterContinental Grand Ankara.
“With the global perspective and cultural richness of
the InterContinental brand, we aim to position InterContinental Grand Ankara
not only as a place to stay, but as a destination that captures the rhythm of
the city and becomes a reference point for gastronomy and social life.”
Personalised experiences connect guests with Ankara
A key element of the guest experience is
InterContinental’s signature Concierge service, which has been a cornerstone of
the brand for more than 80 years. Acting as cultural ambassadors, the concierge
team curates personalised itineraries designed to help guests discover both
Ankara’s iconic landmarks and its lesser-known neighbourhoods, restaurants and
social venues.
The concept reflects InterContinental’s long-standing
philosophy of creating meaningful cultural connections through travel.
Gastronomy and wellness take centre stage
Dining is led by Executive Chef Emre İnanır, whose
experience includes Michelin Guide-recognised restaurants and Gault &
Millau accolades. The hotel’s signature restaurant, LOQQANTA 06, combines
Anatolian ingredients with international culinary influences, creating a
contemporary dining experience rooted in local traditions.
For a more informal setting, guests can visit The
Lobby Bar, offering crafted cocktails, premium wines and light dining
throughout the day and evening.
The wellness offering is centred around a
1,500-square-metre spa featuring indoor and outdoor pools as well as treatments
inspired by Turkish and international wellness traditions. Designed as an urban
retreat, the spa provides guests with a space for relaxation and rejuvenation
within the heart of the city.
Luxury apartments and extensive event facilities
In addition to traditional guestrooms and suites, the
hotel introduces a collection of Luxury Apartment Suites aimed at long-stay
guests. Featuring spacious living areas, fully equipped kitchens and
residential-style layouts, the apartments combine the comforts of home with
luxury hotel services.
InterContinental Grand Ankara also positions itself as
a major venue for events and celebrations. The hotel offers three ballrooms
with capacity for up to 1,200 guests alongside 15 multifunctional meeting
rooms. The facilities are designed to accommodate international conferences,
diplomatic events, weddings and social gatherings.
Through the InterContinental Incredible Occasions
programme, guests benefit from the brand’s global expertise in organising
bespoke events centred on cultural connections, exceptional settings and
personalised experiences.
Strengthening IHG’s expansion in Europe
The opening forms part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’
continued growth strategy across Europe, where the company currently has more
than 1,240 open and pipeline properties.
As part of the IHG One Rewards network, guests at
InterContinental Grand Ankara also gain access to one of the world’s largest
hotel loyalty programmes, connecting the property with a global community of
travellers.
“We are delighted to announce the arrival of
InterContinental Grand Ankara to the capital,” said Tahir Çelik, Chairman of
the Board at Çelikler Holding, owner of the property.
“With IHG’s proven knowledge, respect for local
cultures, and deep understanding of community dynamics, we believe
InterContinental Grand Ankara will bring immense value to the city’s tourism
landscape. This luxury brand will not only meet but exceed the expectations of
our guests.”
