The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai has marked its second anniversary with the award of One Michelin Key in the 2026 Michelin Key hotel selection. The distinction recognises properties offering particularly memorable stays and provides a new international endorsement for the luxury hotel overlooking one of Shanghai’s best-known waterfront landmarks.
Opened in 2024, the property has spent its first two years developing its accommodation, dining and cultural offerings for an international clientele. Its location on the historic Bund places guests close to Shanghai’s architectural heritage, while offering views across the Huangpu River towards the modern skyline of Lujiazui. The Michelin recognition comes as the hotel continues to strengthen its position in the city’s competitive luxury hospitality market.
The anniversary also coincides with several additions to the guest experience, including seven new suites and artistic collaborations inspired by Chinese cultural traditions. Together with its established restaurant concepts and personalised services, these developments reflect the hotel’s approach to combining international luxury standards with a distinctive sense of place.
New suites and rooftop dining
Among the hotel’s principal attractions is Spago Shanghai, located on the 21st floor. The restaurant is the first Chinese location of chef Wolfgang Puck’s Spago concept and offers California-inspired cuisine accompanied by panoramic views of the Bund and Shanghai’s skyline.
The hotel has also introduced seven Oriental Paris luxury suites, designed to take advantage of views towards the Bund, Lujiazui and Yuyuan Garden. The new accommodation expands the property’s premium room offering and caters to travellers seeking greater privacy and more spacious surroundings.
Cultural elements are increasingly incorporated into the interiors. In May 2026, the hotel collaborated with artist Zhang Tianjun on a project bringing landscape art inspired by the Song dynasty into selected suites. The initiative connects contemporary luxury accommodation with traditional Chinese artistic influences.
The anniversary programme further highlighted the property’s emphasis on experiences beyond accommodation, with gourmet dinners, afternoon tea events, industry gatherings and wellness sessions.
Personalised service for international guests
Service remains a central part of the St. Regis concept. The Shanghai property offers the brand’s signature 24-hour butler service, supported by a multilingual team capable of serving guests in nearly ten languages.
Alan Jin, General Manager of The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai, welcomed the Michelin distinction as recognition of the hotel’s development.
“This One MICHELIN Key honour recognises our dedication. Our second anniversary is a fresh starting point. Rooted in the Bund and St. Regis' century-old heritage, we keep refining our spaces, dining and cultural experiences.”
The Michelin Key system evaluates hotels on the quality and individuality of the overall stay rather than focusing solely on conventional luxury classifications. One Key denotes a particularly distinctive hotel experience.
For Shanghai’s hospitality sector, the recognition adds another internationally visible property to the city’s luxury accommodation offering. It also underlines the importance of gastronomy, cultural programming and personalised service in attracting international leisure and business travellers.
The St. Regis on the Bund intends to continue developing these elements, positioning its accommodation, restaurants and cultural experiences as complementary parts of a luxury stay in Shanghai.
