Ryanair has unveiled its largest-ever Winter 2025 and
Summer 2026 programmes for Pescara Airport. With two aircraft now based
year-round – erstmals auch im Winter – the airline confirms a US$200 million
investment in the Abruzzo region. According to Ryanair, the removal of the
Municipal Tax has been a decisive factor: passenger numbers are set to exceed
1.3 million per year, an increase of 80 percent compared to before the tax was
scrapped.
Expanded route offering for Winter and Summer
For Winter 2025, the plan features 14 routes,
including eight new services to Cagliari, Milan Malpensa, Kaunas, Krakow,
Trapani-Marsala, Turin, Valencia and Wroclaw.
In Summer 2026 the schedule will grow to 21 routes,
introducing Tirana as a new destination and reinstating Milan Bergamo. The
airline expects the expanded programme to support more than 1,000 jobs in the
Abruzzo region, including over 60 pilots and cabin crew.
Investment boost through tax reform
Ryanair emphasises that Pescara Airport has become
significantly more competitive since the Abruzzo Region – under President
Marsilio – removed the Municipal Tax. As the third Italian region to eliminate
the levy, Abruzzo has seen Ryanair add new capacity, deploy an additional
aircraft worth US$100 million and drive strong traffic growth. The airline
argues that Italy as a whole must follow suit if it wants to remain competitive
with countries such as Albania, Sweden and Slovakia, which are lowering access costs
to stimulate tourism and employment.
Launch promotion
To mark the record expansion, Ryanair has introduced a
three-day seat sale with fares starting at €34.99 for travel until the end of
June, bookable now via ryanair.com.
