Princess Cruises opens 2028 Alaska season with 185 departures

Princess Cruises has opened bookings for its 2028 Alaska season, offering 185 departures across 14 itineraries aboard eight ships. Voyages will range from four to 16 days and depart from Seattle, Vancouver, Anchorage (Whittier), San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The programme includes Star Princess as well as Discovery Princess, Emerald Princess, Royal Princess, Coral Princess, Crown Princess, Island Princess and Ruby Princess. In total, the ships will visit 16 destinations, including Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway.

Glacier itineraries remain at the centre

The 2028 programme will feature scenic cruising in Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier, College Fjord and Endicott Arm with Dawes Glacier.

Princess plans 86 visits to Glacier Bay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The line’s established Voyage of the Glaciers itineraries will continue to operate between Anchorage and Vancouver, combining major ports with glacier viewing and the option to add land-based cruisetours.

Round-trip Inside Passage itineraries will also depart from Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

“Alaska is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring destinations, and Princess has spent nearly 60 years helping guests experience it in a way few others can,” says Jim Berra, Chief Commercial Officer at Princess Cruises. “Our 2028 season brings together glacier-filled voyages, unforgettable wildlife and cultural experiences, Princess Wilderness Lodges and Rail, along with seamless cruisetours that take guests deeper into the Great Land.”

Cruisetours extend the journey inland

Princess will continue to combine cruises with stays at its own wilderness lodges near destinations such as Denali, Kenai Fjords and Wrangell-St. Elias national parks.

The land programmes include rail travel between Whittier and the Denali area aboard glass-domed carriages, while selected itineraries visit up to four national parks.

Among the properties used are Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge and Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge.

Alaska experiences continue onboard and ashore

The cruise line’s North to Alaska programme will continue to feature regional cuisine, cultural presentations and destination-focused activities.

Shore excursions include whale watching in Juneau, White Pass Railway journeys in Skagway, glacier landings, wildlife cruises in Kenai Fjords and local cultural experiences.

Princess Cruises has been sailing in Alaska since 1969, giving the company nearly six decades of experience in the destination. The 2028 season is now open for booking.
