Lorenza Maggio has been appointed Chief Executive
Officer of Brussels Airlines by the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG.
The appointment remains subject to approval by the Board of Directors of SN
Airholding. In addition to leading the Belgian airline, Maggio will also serve
as Executive Board Representative to the European Commission.
She succeeds Dorothea von Boxberg, who will leave the
company at her own request on 31 August 2026. The date of Maggio’s transition
from Rome to Brussels will be announced at a later stage.
Experienced Lufthansa Group executive
Maggio has been a member of the Board of Directors of
ITA Airways since January 2025, serving as Chief Strategy and Integration
Officer. In that role, she has overseen the airline’s integration into the
Lufthansa Group while also shaping its long-term strategic development.
Before joining ITA Airways, she was Vice President
Sales for the Lufthansa Group’s network airlines across Europe, excluding the
home markets, as well as the Middle East and Africa. Earlier in her career, she
led brand and customer strategy at Eurowings and served as Managing Director of
an LSG Group subsidiary.
Leadership transition from within the group
“Lorenza Maggio is a highly accomplished and
internationally experienced airline executive,” said Dieter Vranckx, Chairman
of the Board of Directors of SN Airholding and Chief Commercial Officer of the
Lufthansa Group. “She knows the industry and our group from various leadership
positions at different companies. With her proven expertise, she will lead
Brussels Airlines as an integrated hub airline within the Lufthansa Group.”
Vranckx also thanked Dorothea von Boxberg for her many
years of service, adding that he was pleased the company had been able to
appoint a successor from within the Lufthansa Group.
