IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened InterContinental Taipei, adding a major luxury property to its growing portfolio in Taiwan. The 347-room hotel is located within the Taipei Dome complex in the capital’s Xinyi District, placing guests close to important business, shopping, cultural and entertainment destinations. Developed in partnership with Farglory Group, the property becomes the latest addition to the InterContinental brand’s expanding presence across Taiwan.
The opening marks the second InterContinental development undertaken by IHG and Farglory Group, following InterContinental Kaohsiung. The partnership also includes the recently signed Hualien Farglory Hotel, which will operate under IHG’s Vignette Collection brand. Together, these projects reflect the hotel group’s strategy of strengthening its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio through partnerships with established regional developers.
InterContinental Taipei opens during the 80th anniversary year of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and is positioned as the brand’s flagship property in Taiwan. Its location within the Taipei Dome development provides access to a mixed-use urban environment, while the hotel itself combines contemporary accommodation, restaurants, leisure facilities and event spaces. The property is designed to attract international business and leisure travellers as well as local guests seeking dining and social experiences.
Contemporary accommodation with local influences
The hotel offers 347 rooms and suites, with Classic Rooms starting at approximately 38 square metres. Selected accommodation provides views of Taipei 101, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
Residential-style suites begin at around 76 square metres and include full kitchens, dining areas and in-suite laundry facilities. These features are intended to accommodate guests seeking additional space and greater independence during longer stays.
The interior design draws inspiration from Taipei’s architecture, cultural traditions and urban history. Under the concept “In Taipei, For Taipei,” the hotel incorporates references to the city’s identity through decorative elements, artistic installations and details within its public spaces.
The approach extends to the hotel’s event facilities, where musical motifs and other design features reflect aspects of Taipei’s cultural heritage.
Robbert Manussen, Area General Manager, Luxury & Lifestyle, Taiwan market, IHG, and General Manager of InterContinental Taipei, emphasised the importance of creating a property connected to its surroundings.
“Our ambition is for InterContinental Taipei to be more than a hotel in Taipei; it should feel like a hotel that belongs to Taipei,” Manussen said.
He added that the property should serve as a gateway through which international visitors can experience the city more deeply, while offering local residents new opportunities to enjoy their home destination.
Seven dining concepts and extensive facilities
Food and beverage operations form a significant part of the new hotel’s offering. InterContinental Taipei features seven dining concepts, including restaurants associated with internationally recognised chef Akira Back.
The variety of restaurants is designed to serve both hotel guests and the wider local market, supporting the property’s positioning as a dining and social destination within the Taipei Dome complex.
Additional facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and Club InterContinental. Flexible event spaces provide capacity for business meetings, corporate functions and private celebrations.
The combination of accommodation, dining and event facilities reflects the hotel’s intended role within one of Taipei’s major commercial and entertainment districts.
For business travellers, the Xinyi location offers proximity to the capital’s corporate environment, while leisure visitors can use the hotel as a base for exploring the city’s shopping, cultural attractions and restaurants.
IHG continues expansion across Taiwan
The opening adds another property to InterContinental’s established network in Taiwan. InterContinental Kaohsiung opened in 2021, followed by InterContinental Taichung in 2024 and InterContinental New Taipei Hot Spring in 2025.
The New Taipei property marked the brand’s first hot spring resort in Taiwan, extending its presence beyond major urban centres into the resort segment.
With InterContinental Taipei, IHG now operates four InterContinental properties across the market, covering different types of destinations and traveller requirements.
The company sees further opportunities for luxury hospitality development in Taiwan, supported by the destination’s cultural heritage, varied tourism attractions and appeal to regional and international visitors.
IHG intends to continue working with local owners and development partners to identify additional opportunities for its Luxury & Lifestyle brands. The recently signed Hualien Farglory Hotel under the Vignette Collection illustrates this approach, broadening the group’s presence beyond the InterContinental brand.
As travellers increasingly seek accommodation that combines internationally recognised standards with distinctive local experiences, IHG is placing greater emphasis on properties that reflect their destinations. InterContinental Taipei represents this strategy in one of Taiwan’s most prominent urban locations.
