IHG brings Garner brand to Uzbekistan with new Tashkent hotel

IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its presence in Uzbekistan with the signing of Garner Hotel Tashkent, the first property under its Garner brand in Central Asia. The 100-room hotel is being developed in partnership with Silk Road Inn LLC and is expected to open in September 2027. The project will introduce another internationally branded accommodation option to the Uzbek capital, targeting travellers seeking affordable stays with essential services.

Construction is already underway on Temiryulchilar Street, a location offering access to Tashkent International Airport, the city centre, major transport connections and commercial districts. The hotel is intended to serve a broad range of guests, including business travellers, government and diplomatic visitors, project-related travellers and tourists. Its positioning reflects the diversity of accommodation demand in Uzbekistan's principal administrative and economic centre.

The signing also broadens IHG's existing portfolio in Tashkent. The company already operates across several hotel segments in the capital, with brands including InterContinental Tashkent, voco Tashkent, Crowne Plaza Tashkent and Holiday Inn Tashkent City. Garner will complement these properties by introducing a more affordable midscale option within the group's brand portfolio.

Affordable accommodation for a growing market

Garner Hotels is positioned around essential accommodation services rather than extensive facilities. The concept focuses on convenient locations, comfortable rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi and practical amenities designed for short and longer stays.

Brand features include a complimentary welcome drink and snack, freshly prepared bean-to-cup coffee and a 24-hour Garner Shop offering everyday essentials. The approach is intended to provide a consistent guest experience while maintaining an accessible price point.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development, Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, described the signing as an important milestone for both the company and the brand. She highlighted growing demand for internationally branded midscale accommodation in the region and said the partnership with Silk Road Inn LLC would bring Garner's combination of quality and affordability to the Uzbek market.

Shokhrukh Khasanov, CEO of Silk Road Inn LLC, also welcomed the agreement, noting that the brand's emphasis on comfort, quality and value matched the needs of visitors to Tashkent. The partnership represents a further step towards the hotel's planned opening in 2027.

Garner continues international expansion

The Tashkent project forms part of IHG's wider expansion strategy for Garner, a brand designed to appeal to both hotel guests and property owners.

As of 30 September 2026, Garner had 64 operating hotels across Europe, with another 24 properties in development. The brand's growth is supported by a flexible operating and design model that allows existing hotel properties to be converted to Garner standards.

For owners and developers, IHG highlights the model's adaptable design requirements, competitive development costs per room and comparatively low pre-opening expenses. These characteristics are intended to make the brand suitable for a variety of hotel projects while benefiting from IHG's international distribution and operating infrastructure.

In Tashkent, the new hotel will expand the range of accommodation categories represented by international hotel groups. Its location near major transport infrastructure is particularly relevant for visitors combining business appointments, onward travel and short stays in the capital.

The signing illustrates IHG's continued interest in Central Asia and its strategy of introducing different hotel brands to serve distinct traveller segments. With construction already underway, Garner Hotel Tashkent is expected to become the group's latest addition to Uzbekistan's hospitality market when it opens in September 2027.
