Cunard has announced an extensive refurbishment of
Queen Victoria, with the 2,000-guest ship scheduled to enter dry dock in
Rotterdam this autumn. The three-week refit will modernize several of the
vessel’s most prominent public areas, enhance its premium accommodation and add
a new wellness-focused dining concept.
Queen Victoria will undergo the work at Damen
Shiprepair from October 17 to November 5, 2026. The ship is due to return to
service on November 7, ready for the remainder of its 2026 voyages and its 2027
program.
Grand Lobby and Queens Room to be renewed
Among the most visible changes will be a refreshed
Grand Lobby designed to strengthen the sense of arrival while preserving the
ship’s traditional character. The Queens Room will also be reimagined as a
setting for Cunard’s signature afternoon tea, live music and Gala Evenings.
According to the cruise line, the refurbishment will
retain the British elegance for which Queen Victoria is known while introducing
updated furnishings, details and finishes.
Grill Suites receive major upgrade
Cunard will also renew the Queens Grill and Princess
Grill Suites, which form a central part of the company’s luxury offering. The
upgraded accommodation will feature new furnishings, refined decorative details
and redesigned interiors intended to provide greater comfort and a more
contemporary atmosphere.
Eight additional Britannia staterooms will be created
during the refit. Three will belong to a new Britannia Deluxe Oceanview
category featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic sea views. The new
cabins will be available for booking for voyages departing from November 11,
2026.
Pavilion Wellness Café joins the ship
Queen Victoria will become the third vessel in the
Cunard fleet to offer The Pavilion Wellness Café. The concept was introduced
aboard Queen Anne in 2024 and added to Queen Elizabeth in 2025.
The venue will serve breakfast, lunch and daytime
meals, with a menu focused on plant-based dishes alongside sustainably sourced
meat, fish and dairy products. The addition reflects the growing importance of
wellness and more conscious dining choices in the luxury travel market.
Heritage remains central to redesign
“Queen Victoria has always held a special place in the
hearts of our guests, celebrated for her distinctive character, intimate spaces
and unmistakable sense of British elegance,” said Cunard President Katie
McAlister.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to refine the
experiences and spaces she offers, with every decision approached with deep
respect for the heritage and charm that make her who she is. From the Grand
Lobby to the Queens Room, every detail has been thoughtfully considered to
ensure Queen Victoria continues to deliver the timeless luxury she is known and
loved for. We can’t wait to welcome guests back on board to experience these
beautiful enhancements for themselves.”
Mediterranean and Northern Europe voyages planned
Following the refit, Queen Victoria will operate a
2027 program covering destinations including the Mediterranean, the Norwegian
Fjords and the Canary Islands. The refurbishment is intended to prepare the
ship for its future itineraries while preserving the design identity and
intimate atmosphere valued by regular Cunard guests.
