Asia: Four Seasons turns intimate celebrations into tailor-made journeys

Smaller celebrations are becoming an increasingly important part of luxury travel. Four Seasons Resorts of Asia is responding with personalised programmes for weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, family gatherings and corporate retreats across destinations ranging from Thailand and Vietnam to Bali, Palau and the Maldives.

Rather than treating these occasions as standalone events, the resorts combine accommodation, dining, wellness, cultural experiences and activities into individual itineraries. Private villas, residences and even entire islands provide the setting for groups seeking greater privacy and flexibility.

Weddings from Bali to Vietnam

Four Seasons is offering a wide range of settings for couples. At Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, proposals can take place on the resort’s suspension bridge or beside its rooftop lotus pond, while Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai offers private vow ceremonies at its Yoga Barn, surrounded by lotus ponds, rice fields and views towards the Doi Saket mountains.

In Vietnam, Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An combines wedding packages with traditional Vietnamese ceremonies that can be adapted to individual preferences. Design concepts range from French Indochine influences to colours and floral elements inspired by Hoi An.

Four Seasons Koh Samui takes the ceremony to the beach. Its secluded Once in a Blue Moon cove provides a setting for barefoot weddings with individually designed flowers and table arrangements.

A more unconventional option awaits in Palau. Four Seasons Explorer is a 39-metre floating resort with just 11 accommodations, allowing small groups to combine bachelor or bachelorette celebrations with a voyage through the archipelago’s islands, lagoons and reefs.

Honeymoons combine nature and private dining

Couples celebrating honeymoons and anniversaries can choose experiences ranging from the jungles of northern Thailand to the Maldives.

At Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, a two-night programme includes a private dinner on a secluded jungle peninsula overlooking the Ruak River. Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru offers its Tales from a Treetop Table experience high in the island’s canopy.

Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay combines wedding and honeymoon elements in its WeddingMoon package. The programme includes a ceremony venue, wedding-night accommodation, a Balinese couples’ massage and private dining against the resort’s ocean and jungle landscapes.

An entire Maldivian island for up to 30 guests

Among the most exclusive options is Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah. Located on five acres within the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the private island has seven rooms accommodating up to 30 guests.

Only one group occupies the property at a time, allowing itineraries to be designed without having to accommodate the schedules of other hotel guests. A team of 30 employees looks after a full-island buyout.

Activities can range from personalised wellness programmes and yacht excursions to themed dining experiences such as a Maldivian Fisherman’s Feast prepared with the day’s catch.

Marine conservation becomes part of the celebration

At nearby Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru, celebrations can extend over several days and combine private dining and wellness with marine encounters and conservation activities.

The resort’s Overwater Wedding Pavilion is accessible only by boat and features a glass-bottomed aisle above the waters of Baa Atoll. For larger private gatherings, the four-bedroom Landaa Estate stretches along 80 metres of private beach and includes a 20-metre swimming pool. It can host family reunions, corporate retreats, micro-wedding receptions and other celebrations.

Guests can also participate in manta ray research, coral restoration and turtle rehabilitation. The resort’s Manta-on-Call programme alerts guests when manta rays are spotted, allowing them to head out by speedboat for a spontaneous snorkelling encounter.

Kuda Huraa targets multigenerational groups

Accessibility plays a particularly important role for family gatherings. Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa is around 25 minutes by speedboat from Malé, eliminating the need to coordinate domestic seaplane connections for larger groups.

Its compact island setting brings beaches, villas, suites and tropical gardens close together, while ŪRJĀ Naturopathy Island provides a dedicated wellness component.

Across its Asian resorts, Four Seasons is positioning intimate events as more than conventional celebrations. The common theme is a shift towards smaller groups, greater privacy and experiences built around the people travelling together – whether for a wedding, an anniversary, a family reunion or a corporate retreat.
