Agoda has expanded its luxury accommodation portfolio
through a new partnership with Capella Hotel Group. All properties operated
under Capella Hotels and Resorts and Patina Hotels & Resorts will become
available through the digital travel platform, giving the hotel group access to
Agoda’s international customer base.
The agreement comes as Asia plays an increasingly
important role in the global luxury travel market. Both companies are deeply
rooted in the region, while destinations including Bangkok and Bali, where
Capella operates hotels, rank among Agoda’s most searched locations for
five-star accommodation.
Luxury travel shifts towards experiences
The partnership reflects broader changes in demand at
the upper end of the travel market. According to figures cited by Agoda, Asia
could account for almost half of the world’s new high-net-worth individuals by
2028.
At the same time, luxury travel is becoming
increasingly focused on experiences rather than accommodation alone. Agoda’s
2026 Travel Outlook Report found that 31% of surveyed travellers prioritised
culinary experiences, while 25% identified cultural exploration as an important
motivation for travelling.
For hotel groups, this development is increasing the
importance of presenting properties not simply as places to stay, but as part
of the destination experience.
“Luxury today is personal. Our role at Agoda is to
make sure that what a traveler is looking for – from an everyday getaway to a
once-in-a-lifetime stay – is easy to discover and book,” said Andrew Smith,
Senior Vice President of Supply at Agoda. “Partnering with Capella Hotel Group
brings some of the world's most celebrated properties onto our platform, making
these extraordinary stays and experiences just as accessible to our customers
as any other trip they plan with us.”
Agoda expands access to Capella and Patina
For Capella Hotel Group, the agreement provides an
additional global distribution channel for its two brands. Capella Hotels and
Resorts operates in the luxury segment with a strong emphasis on individual
service and destination-specific experiences, while Patina Hotels & Resorts
follows a contemporary lifestyle approach.
The partnership is particularly relevant in
Asia-Pacific, where luxury travel demand is expected to continue expanding.
Agoda cites industry projections indicating annual growth of around 8% in the
region.
Bangkok and Bali are already among the destinations
generating particularly strong interest in five-star accommodation on Agoda,
alongside Kuala Lumpur. Both Bangkok and Bali feature properties from the
Capella portfolio.
Capella seeks greater reach across Asian markets
For Capella Hotel Group, the cooperation is intended
to increase visibility and generate additional demand as the company expands
its international portfolio.
“As Capella Hotel Group continues on its growth
trajectory, partnerships that drive commercial value like this one with Agoda
give us the scale and reach to connect with a high-intent traveler base across
Asia and beyond,” said Varun Whig, Vice President, Revenue, Capella Hotel
Group. “This helps us grow demand for Capella and Patina, while we continue
delivering the bespoke service of Capella and the transformative experiences of
Patina in every destination we're in.”
The cooperation also brings several internationally
recognised properties onto Agoda’s platform. Capella Hotels and Resorts was
named Best Hotel Brand in the World in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards
2026, according to the companies, retaining the position for a fourth
consecutive year. Patina Osaka was named Best Hotel in the World in the same
awards, while Capella Bangkok received The World’s Best Hotel title in 2024.
By combining Agoda’s distribution reach with Capella
Hotel Group’s growing portfolio, both companies are positioning themselves for
further growth in an Asian luxury travel market increasingly shaped by
personalised and experience-led stays.
