Eurowings is reporting a sharp increase in bookings
following Germany’s early exit from the FIFA World Cup. Since the national
team's defeat to Paraguay, demand has risen significantly for both Eurowings
flights and package holidays offered by Eurowings Holidays. As the summer
holidays begin in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s most populous federal
state, travel demand is gathering further momentum.
During the first weekend of the school holidays alone,
Eurowings expects to carry around 270,000 passengers to their holiday
destinations, underlining the strong return of last-minute bookings.
Package holidays gain momentum
Eurowings Holidays has observed a clear acceleration
in bookings since mid-May. Package holiday reservations are currently around 70
per cent higher than during the same period last year.
Travellers are also booking much closer to departure
than in previous years. Most package holidays booked in May and June were
reserved less than 42 days before departure, highlighting the renewed
popularity of last-minute travel.
Mallorca and destinations across Greece are currently
among the strongest-performing holiday markets, with bookings for the peak
summer season temporarily more than doubling.
Preparing for a smoother journey
To help passengers enjoy a stress-free start to their
holidays, Eurowings recommends completing travel preparations well in advance.
Online check-in and check-in via the Eurowings app are
available from 72 hours before departure, allowing travellers to secure their
boarding passes early and reduce waiting times at the airport.
Passengers are also encouraged to review the latest
baggage regulations and airport services before travelling. Depending on the
departure airport, digital self-service facilities such as automated bag drop
or evening-before baggage check-in are available, helping to streamline the
airport experience.
