Eurowings transported more than ten million passengers during the first six months of 2026, maintaining stable flight operations despite weather-related disruptions, strike action and the impact of the conflict in the Middle East. Germany's largest leisure airline completed around 75,000 flights to more than 150 destinations while achieving an operational regularity rate of almost 99 percent.

High customer satisfaction and stronger demand

The airline also maintained high levels of customer satisfaction. Its Net Promoter Score (NPS) reached 47, a figure regarded as a strong benchmark within the aviation industry. According to customer surveys, more than 71 percent of passengers said they would choose to fly with Eurowings again. The average load factor increased to 85.3 percent.

Demand strengthened noticeably during the second quarter of the year, particularly on routes to destinations in the western Mediterranean. Established holiday markets, led by Mallorca, benefited from changing travel preferences as many holidaymakers opted for destinations perceived as offering greater stability amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Berlin expansion gains momentum

Eurowings also continued to strengthen its position at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. During the 2026 summer schedule, the airline connected the German capital with around 50 destinations for the first time. The current expansion focuses on direct services to European capitals including London, Lisbon and Sarajevo, with Rome set to join the network from November.

Higher costs weigh on earnings

Despite the solid operational performance and robust demand, the Lufthansa Group's point-to-point segment, comprising Eurowings and its stake in SunExpress, reported an adjusted EBIT loss of 252 million euros for the first half of 2026.

According to the company, higher fuel costs linked to the conflict in the Middle East, together with increased aviation taxes and charges in Germany, placed significant pressure on earnings. As with most leisure airlines, Eurowings generates the majority of its annual profits during the peak holiday season between June and October.
