Condor is preparing a new aircraft dedicated to German football club Eintracht Frankfurt as part of its ongoing short- and medium-haul fleet modernisation. An Airbus A320neo is scheduled to take over from the current Eintracht-branded A320ceo in spring 2027, continuing the airline’s distinctive black-and-white football-themed livery. The replacement will preserve the familiar appearance of the existing aircraft while introducing the newer Airbus generation.
The current aircraft, registered D-ASGE, features black-and-white stripes and the Eintracht Frankfurt eagle on its tail. According to Condor, these design elements will remain largely unchanged on the new A320neo. The airline also intends to retain the existing cabin concept wherever technically possible, introducing only minor adjustments to accommodate the newer aircraft configuration.
The replacement aircraft will accommodate 180 passengers and will be deployed on both scheduled and charter services, just like its predecessor. The transition forms part of Condor’s wider fleet renewal programme, which involves replacing older aircraft with newer models featuring updated engines and aerodynamic designs. For passengers, the most visible difference will therefore be the aircraft generation rather than a fundamental change to the Eintracht-themed travel experience.
Supporters invited to choose the registration
Condor is giving Eintracht Frankfurt supporters an opportunity to participate in the introduction of the new aircraft. Because the A320neo will enter service before the existing aircraft is withdrawn, it cannot immediately inherit the registration D-ASGE.
Instead, the airline has shortlisted three possible registrations, each reflecting a different connection to Frankfurt and the football club.
The first option, D-AFRA, refers to Frankfurt Airport, Condor’s principal German hub. D-AFFM represents Frankfurt am Main, while D-AEIN is a direct reference to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Fans can vote for their preferred registration by commenting on Condor’s Instagram post until 29 October 2026. The option receiving the most votes is intended to become the registration of the new aircraft.
The campaign provides a way for supporters to contribute to the aircraft’s identity while maintaining the connection between the airline and the Frankfurt football club.
Fleet renewal without a break in the special livery
The new A320neo is expected to enter service in spring 2027, with the current D-ASGE scheduled to leave Condor’s fleet several weeks later.
This overlap is intended to ensure that an Eintracht-branded aircraft remains part of the airline’s operations throughout the transition. The existing A320ceo will therefore continue flying until after its successor has arrived.
Although the two aircraft belong to the same Airbus A320 family, the A320neo incorporates a newer engine generation and aerodynamic improvements, including changes to the wings. These developments are central to Condor’s modernisation of its short- and medium-haul fleet.
For travellers, the new aircraft will continue to appear on regular Condor services rather than operating exclusively on flights connected with Eintracht Frankfurt. Its scheduled and charter deployment means the distinctive livery can be seen at destinations throughout the airline’s network.
The introduction of the replacement aircraft also demonstrates how Condor is combining fleet renewal with an established brand partnership. While the aircraft technology changes, the football-themed exterior and its connection to Frankfurt will remain recognisable.
The final registration will be determined following the fan vote, with the new Eintracht aircraft scheduled to begin operations in spring 2027.
