Flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to debut in Greece’s second-largest city with a landmark mixed-use development
Hilton Signs First Hotel in Thessaloniki

Hilton is expanding its presence in Greece with the signing of its first hotel in Thessaloniki. Scheduled to open in 2029, the 184-room Hilton Thessaloniki will introduce the company's flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to the country's second-largest city. Developed in partnership with leading real estate company DIMAND, the hotel will become part of the large-scale regeneration of the historic FIX district, transforming the former brewery site into a vibrant mixed-use urban destination.

Landmark project strengthens Hilton’s presence in Greece

The new property further expands Hilton’s growing portfolio in Greece, which now comprises more than 70 operating and pipeline hotels. The signing also marks an important milestone in the redevelopment of Thessaloniki’s western gateway, where the former FIX brewery is being transformed into a modern district combining hospitality, culture, business and public spaces.

The hotel will offer 184 guest rooms across two buildings. A newly constructed main building will feature 154 rooms, while a carefully restored heritage building will add 30 rooms, preserving the architectural legacy of the historic brewery.

“We are delighted to be working with DIMAND to introduce the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to the city as part of the landmark regeneration of the FIX district,” said Alan Mantin, Vice President, Development, Southern Europe, Hilton. “This signing reflects our continued progress and confidence in Greece, a key strategic market for Hilton, and our commitment to growing our portfolio in key destinations to serve a wider range of traveller needs.”

Hospitality and culture come together

Designed to reflect the signature Hilton Hotels & Resorts experience, the property will include two restaurants, two bars, modern fitness facilities, conference and event spaces, and a rooftop terrace with a swimming pool overlooking the city and the sea.

A neighbouring building will house the Thessaloniki Philharmonic Orchestra and provide space for art exhibitions, reinforcing the district’s role as an emerging cultural destination.

“Thessaloniki is a city with a rich cultural identity, a growing business community and an increasingly compelling proposition for international travellers,” said Andreas Koukas, Senior Director, Development, Greece & Cyprus, Hilton. “Against this backdrop of growing travel demand, we’re excited to announce our first project here and look forward to seeing this property brought to life.”

Historic FIX district enters a new chapter

The redevelopment is being led by DIMAND under a masterplan created by internationally renowned architects Foster + Partners. The project combines contemporary architecture with the preservation of the site's industrial heritage, creating a new urban quarter that integrates hospitality, commercial uses and public spaces.

“The arrival of an international hospitality brand such as Hilton is a strong indication of the growing maturity of Thessaloniki's market and of the city's increasing appeal as both an investment and tourism destination,” said Dimitris Andriopoulos, Chief Executive Officer of DIMAND. “The choice of the city's western gateway is no coincidence. It reflects the transformation of an area attracting ever-increasing investment interest and reinforces the strategy we have pursued from the very beginning: to invest not in individual assets, but in the regeneration of entire districts, creating long-term value for our shareholders, the local economy and the cities in which we operate.”

Nikos Trikourakis, Head of Hospitality at DIMAND, added: “Today marks a defining moment for Thessaloniki and Greek tourism. With Hilton Thessaloniki, we are bringing a new hospitality landmark to the city's western gateway, one that combines international standards and global brand recognition with architectural excellence and a meaningful contribution to the city's long-term development. Our partnership with Hilton is a strong vote of confidence in Thessaloniki's potential and reinforces our commitment to playing an active role in shaping the city's next chapter.”

Opening planned for 2029

Once completed, Hilton Thessaloniki will become part of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the company's flagship brand with a global legacy spanning more than a century. The new hotel will join Hilton's expanding Greek portfolio, which currently includes more than 50 operating hotels, among them the recently opened Conrad Athens The Ilisian, Sandblu Santorini, LXR Hotels & Resorts and Hilton Chania Old Town Resort & Spa.
