Egyptian Tourism Authority joins WTTC as Destination Partner
New partnership aims to strengthen public-private cooperation, support sustainable tourism growth and raise Egypt’s profile among travelers and investors
Egyptian Tourism Authority joins WTTC as Destination Partner

The Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA) has joined the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) as a Destination Partner. The agreement brings Egypt’s national tourism marketing organization into closer cooperation with the global body representing the private travel and tourism sector.

The partnership will focus on sustainable tourism development, stronger links between government and private businesses and the international promotion of Egypt’s tourism portfolio. It is also intended to increase the destination’s visibility among investors and tourism industry decision-makers.

Egypt broadens its international tourism positioning

Egypt remains closely associated with its ancient cultural heritage, but its tourism strategy increasingly encompasses a much wider range of products. Alongside archaeological sites and museums, the country is promoting Red Sea resorts, luxury travel, adventure tourism, wellness, yachting and experiences involving local communities.

The Egyptian Tourism Authority is responsible for marketing these products internationally and developing partnerships in key source markets. Its Board of Directors is chaired by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and includes representatives from the tourism, aviation, hospitality and heritage sectors.

WTTC President and CEO Gloria Guevara sees considerable potential for closer cooperation.

“We are delighted to welcome the Egyptian Tourism Authority to WTTC. Egypt is one of the world’s most remarkable travel destinations, with an extraordinary legacy of history, culture, and unforgettable visitor experiences,” Guevara says.

“We look forward to working closely with the ETA to advance sustainable tourism growth, strengthen international collaboration, and highlight the immense opportunities Egypt offers to travellers, businesses, and investors.”

Cooperation with private sector takes greater role

For Egypt, membership as a Destination Partner provides another platform for cooperation with international tourism companies and investors. The WTTC represents private-sector businesses including hotel groups, airlines, airports, cruise companies, tour operators and technology platforms.

“Joining the World Travel & Tourism Council as a Destination Partner reflects Egypt’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the global travel industry and the private sector to drive sustainable tourism growth,” says Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority.

According to Youssef, the partnership is intended to expand Egypt’s international reach and create opportunities in priority markets while presenting the full diversity of the country’s tourism offer, from cultural heritage and coastal destinations to emerging tourism products.

Investment and tourism value in focus

The cooperation also reflects Egypt’s efforts to increase the economic value generated by tourism rather than concentrating solely on visitor numbers.

“As Egypt continues to advance its tourism vision, collaboration with organizations such as WTTC plays an important role in enhancing our global competitiveness, increasing tourism value, attracting investment, and delivering exceptional visitor experiences,” Youssef says.

WTTC works with governments and tourism businesses on policy, sustainable growth and research into the economic and social contribution of travel and tourism. Through its new Destination Partnership, Egypt will participate more closely in this international network as it seeks to strengthen its position in the global tourism market.
