Lufthansa has received certification for 25 Allegris
Business Class seats on its Boeing 787-9 fleet, marking a further step in the
rollout of its new long-haul product. The first flight featuring the certified
seats departed Frankfurt for Toronto on March 15, 2026.
Gradual rollout across Dreamliner fleet
The aircraft with registration D-ABPM, named
“Potsdam”, operated the inaugural flight with the newly approved cabin
configuration. In total, 25 of the 28 Business Class seats on the Dreamliner
are now certified and available for booking. Additional Boeing 787-9 aircraft
equipped with Allegris are already in service or are expected to follow within
days, enabling short-notice bookings for departures from March 18.
Expanded network with new cabin experience
From Frankfurt, passengers can already experience the
new Allegris Business Class on routes to destinations such as Austin, Rio de
Janeiro, Bogotá, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Toronto. With the start of the summer
schedule on March 29, further destinations including Cape Town, Shanghai and
Hong Kong will be added. From June, New York JFK and Los Angeles will follow,
with Delhi scheduled from July.
Flexible seating options in Business Class
Passengers booking Allegris Business Class can choose
between different seating options. The Classic Seat, which includes all core
features of the new cabin, remains available free of charge. Additional seat
types offering enhanced comfort, such as the Business Class Suite, Extra Space
Seat, Privacy Seat by the window and the Extra Long Bed with a reclining
surface of 2.20 meters, can be reserved in advance for an additional fee.
Fleet expansion continues
Allegris has been operating on the Boeing 787-9 from
Frankfurt since October 9, 2025. Lufthansa currently has ten of these aircraft
based in Frankfurt, nine of which are already in service. The airline plans to
expand its Dreamliner fleet to a total of 29 aircraft by the end of 2027.
