ITB Berlin will introduce a revised hall layout for
its 2027 edition as part of the long-term modernisation of the Berlin
Exhibition Grounds. The changes, which accompany the construction of the new
dock9 conference and event centre, are designed to improve thematic clustering,
visitor orientation and exhibition capacity while creating a more efficient
layout for exhibitors and trade visitors.
CityCube Berlin takes on a larger role
The most significant change is the integration of
CityCube Berlin as an exhibition venue. Exhibitors currently located in Halls
7.1c, 8.1, 9 and 10.1 will relocate to the CityCube, which will become an
integral part of the exhibition concept for the first time.
The expanded use of CityCube Berlin will provide
additional high-quality exhibition space, modern infrastructure and greater
flexibility for larger and technologically advanced stands. The venue is
directly connected to the exhibition grounds and offers dedicated entrances,
its own taxi drop-off area and convenient access via the Messe Süd S-Bahn
station.
New layout focuses on thematic clusters
Rather than undertaking a comprehensive restructuring,
ITB Berlin is concentrating on targeted adjustments affecting selected
exhibitor groups. The revised layout is intended to bring related tourism
sectors closer together, simplify navigation and encourage networking within
individual market segments.
“The adapted hall layout is more than just a response
to the construction of dock9. It gives us the opportunity to align ITB Berlin
even more closely with the requirements of our international exhibitors and
trade visitors and make thematic focal points more visible“, said Deborah
Rothe, Director of ITB Berlin.
According to the organisers, the revised concept will
create clearer thematic zones, shorten walking distances and strengthen the
content-driven structure of the world's leading travel trade show.
Construction of dock9 drives modernisation
The changes are linked to the construction of dock9, a
new multi-purpose conference and event centre that will replace the existing
Hall 9. Demolition of Hall 9 is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with the
new venue forming a central element of the long-term redevelopment of the
exhibition grounds.
ITB Berlin is using the project as an opportunity to
optimise the use of available space and prepare the event for future growth.
Exhibitors involved in relocation process
The organisers are working closely with exhibitors
affected by the relocation plans to identify suitable alternative locations. As
the planning process continues, stand allocations will be finalised later this
year.
“It was important for us to involve the partners
concerned in a timely manner and to develop viable solutions together. The hall
layout is still evolving, which is why allocations will be finalised later this
year. We are supporting these adjustments with comprehensive communications.
These include an updated map of the hall layout, clear signage on the grounds,
and notifications in the ITB app and across all key digital channels,” said
Ramona Zaun, Head of Sales & Administration at ITB Berlin.
The revised hall concept will be in place for ITB
Berlin 2027, which takes place from 16 to 18 March.
