Greece’s Aegean Airlines suspends service to Jordanian capital Amman

Greece’s Aegean Airlines on Monday night announced that it has suspended service to Jordan’s capital Amman.

The suspension also applies to flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut, Lebanon through this Thursday, according to the airline.

The airline added that it is closely monitoring regional developments and following advice from competent authorities.

Earlier today, German flag carrier Lufthansa canceled further flights to the Middle East, including Amman, Beirut, Erbil (northern Iraq), Tel Aviv, and Tehran.

The Middle East's security situation has deteriorated following last week’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the Israeli army's claim it killed a top Hezbollah commander in Beirut.
